The Religious Beat
Besides covering business & politics, and posting cultural affairs stories, The Notebook also now has a Religious Beat.
Today, we feature a major restoration project to modernize murals of Saints at Halifax’s St. Mary’s Basilica, and we note a 92-year old Cape Breton Roman Catholic priest has just retired, and we also note the passing of another 91-year old Cape Breton-Antigonish priest, Father Gussie MacLeod.

Once Famed For Its Fiddle Jamborees – Portapique Now Scene Of Deadliest Killing Spree In Canadian History
On Monday afternoon, the RCMP said 19 people were killed after a denture clinic operator, Gabriel Wortman allegedly went on a killing spree over the weekend in a village most Nova Scotians have never been to or even heard of – Portapique.
Outside Truro, near Great Village, media are now describing Dartmouth and Halifax denture clinic proprietor Gabriel Wortman as a “shooting spree suspect”.
While police said Monday, he executed 19 people, sources Monday afternoon inform The Notebook the death tally could now sadly and tragically reach more than 22 folk – 22 innocent lives lost.
